I am a consultant with the Boston Consulting Group. Prior to BCG, I graduated with a Ph.D. in Political Economy and Government from Harvard and wrote for the editorial board of the Financial Times as a Peter Martin Fellow. My research and writing focus on economics and the environment.
Writing
My writing on economics ranges from an academic paper on the energy content of world trade to a short opinion piece making the case against happiness as the guiding light for public policy. Many of my other articles are about green or environmental accounting. Some non-economic pieces include an advertisement brief for hybrid cars and a German satire book.
Research
Does the environment in Europe and the United States become cleaner because we have increasingly shifted the dirtiest production to developing countries? Can environmental degradation lead to a self-fulfilling economic growth process and, thus, ever more pollution? How do we reconcile long-term price trends of economic resources with economic theory? These are some of the questions I am addressing in my research. All are related to the intersection between economics and the environment, from the perspective of international trade, economic growth, and green accounting.
